Are you aware they charge you to sell your car? Keep Reading….

Visited AUTOBUY, They offered less than everyone else. They attempted to match CARMAX offer. After they take out the fees they charge(that no other place charges) the net offer becomes less Carmax. They then refuse to then give their $50.00 gift card guarantee and proceed to belittle me and scream at me. Great service!!

So what had happened was…..

The other day my brother and I had a car we wanted to sell quickly, so like many of you all we wanted to try CarMax, AutoBuy(wepaythemax.com), and other local dealerships. After taking the 2013 Chevy Volt around we had a couple offers, Carmax being the highest @ $6500.00. We had one last place to try….. Autobuy, where they guarantee to pay the max……

The AUTOBUY staff on the phone told me the process would be quick and we would be out of there in about 1 hour. We drove in 12/23/2019 11am without an appointment. We were in line, 2 people ahead of us. about 1 hour in they come collect the key for an appraisal.. Another 90 minutes pass, the car is still gone and we are still waiting.

Finally at the 3 hour mark the appraiser comes back and asks us to wait in the tiny dank office. He finally comes in and shows us this…….

That’s correct, AUTOBUY charges you to sell you the vehicle……

They do not tell you anywhere, they do not advertise this. They want to keep it secret, knowing most people are plain dumb.

Also to boot, AUTOBUY wants to pay me $6200.00……

So I asked, Hey what about your WE PAY THE MAX guarantee that you blast so often on all the radio stations. They did honor that, they said they would pay $6600.00….. Thats right, If I were to sell the car to them I would net $4.95 less than CARMAX.

AUTOBUY DID NOT PAY THE MAX!

Lets break down the fees.

My payment is due on the 1st, that’s a late fee $25.00, Processing fee $59.95, and Electronic title Fee of $20.00. Grand Total of $104.95. With all these fees how can they say they pay the MAX? That’s right, thy don’t. CARMAX DOES, they pay more! They are easier, faster, and just plain NICE!

Now when I asked the appraisal specialist about this, and told him I refuse to pay the fees they call in the head honcho, the closer, the CEO(I cant remember his name). Who wants to proceed to cuss at me, belittle me, and try to tell me why I am stupid for not accepting his offer. At this point I hand the phone back to the appraisal specialist and walk out.

Lesson of the day, AUTOBUY is a scam. They are worse than a pawnshop. They want to try to rip you off.

Through all this I never seen the We pay more or we send you $50.00 gift card. And I do not expect I will, another fraudulent claim by AUTOBUY.

But the story gets better.

Today 12/26/2019 as of writing this the same CEO whom I spoke to on the phone the day I visited the location is now spam calling me and harassing me and again cussing me out. Now hes calling from 954-744-0618. At this point I went ahead and filed an FCC complaint on the spam calls. And I’ll be filing a complaint with Division of Consumer Services

In the end, I sold the car to Carmax(https://www.carmax.com/), Carmax was so easy to deal with. Had my money in 30 minutes, Carmax did not charge fees, so I RECEIVED MORE THAN AUTOBUY WOULD HAVE PAID!
